Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
The theme of International Women’s Day 2023 is Embrace Equity. The aim of this powerful campaign is to get organisations, like ourselves at ET Planning talking about why equal opportunities aren’t enough and that true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
What does Equity mean to ET Planning? Our core values and ethos allow us to provide our employees with ‘something’ that is in line with their individual needs so that they can be successful in their careers and personal life. Equity recognises not only that we do not start from the same place; but we can recognise that individual circumstances are different for each of our employees. We ensure equity, equality and inclusion are paramount to our decision making at every opportunity. Equity allows us to distribute resources based on the needs of the recipients.
‘Planning’s’ annual Planning Consultancy Market Report reveals less than a quarter of the 148 company respondents have a female Director. ET Planning are exceptionally proud to have a female leader, where 56% of our planning professionals are also female. However, our focus is not just on one gender but how as a company we can create an inclusive and equitable environment for all.
ET Planning embrace equity through our workplace commitments, we pride ourselves on making sure parental leave is accessible to people of all genders and normalising it for people of all genders to take up. This helps ensure that the childcare responsibilities do not fall unequally on a mother and act as an impediment as they process in their career.
Finally, ET Planning are continuously inspired by the achievements and dedication displayed by all the female employees. We can all play a role in creating a more inclusive and diverse world. Collectively we can all embrace Equity.
